Two New Walnut Creek Restaurants

It seems like there have been very few new restaurants of note opening in Walnut Creek lately, but here are two that will be opening soon and really should be worth a visit.

First up is The Yelllow Chilli, an upscale Indian restaurant that will be opening it’s third Bay Area location at 1315 North Main Street. Some readers may be familiar with the Danville restaurant that opened a couple of years ago and has an outstanding reputation.Their success is due in no small part to executive chef, Sanjeev Kapoor, who is known as the Gordon Ramsay of India.

Don’t expect a typical Indian restaurant menu though. Certainly you can see some familiar items including Butter Chicken and Chicken Tikka Masala, but there are many

dishes that will be completely new to you. The flavors though, are amazing and vegetarians will be please to note that they are well catered for. Note that the above photo is of the Danville location. In Walnut Creek they will be occupying what was previously La Fogata.

The other new to Walnut Creek restaurant is The Little Pear, local Danville restaurateur Rodney Worth’s first restaurant in Walnut Creek.

Opening soon at 1699 North California, premises until recently occupied by The Counter, this is Worth’s second restaurant to bear this name, the first one being in Blackhawk. Here you can expect a variety of dishes with soups, salads & sandwiches to burgers and a few more substantial entrees. The menu sounds very similar to that in sister restaurant, the Peasant’s Courtyard in Alamo, from such dishes as Cobb Salad, Shrimp Louie and the flagship Rodzilla Burger, as good a burger as you will find, in my personal opinion.
